About our group:


As a part of the Global Infrastructure Services team, our goal is to provide reliable compute, storage and network services to all Seagate factories and design center operations. Our motto is to architect, transform, and optimize our compute/storage/network systems with standard consistent architecture globally to achieve resiliency and unified support by any Administrators across the globe. Seagate is the leader in enterprise and cloud storage solutions, 40% of the world’s data is stored on Seagate devices.

About the role - you will:


  • Administer and support the mission critical SAN storage systems, backup storage targets, SAN fabric switches, and 3rd party backup software (Actifio, Commvalut, Networker).
  • Design, deploy and maintain complex storage systems (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, CSI, S3).
  • Overall ownership of physical and virtual storage configurations, and is accountable for both optimizing the environment for performance and to ensure its availability/stability.
  • Storage IOPs and throughput optimization, early detection of I/O degradation, remediation, and identification of root cause.
  • Establish measurement processes that track space management allocation, usage, and reclamation opportunities.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and strategy for open system storage globally to meet the object storage needs.
  • Monitor and analyze the smooth execution of data backups, storage integrated backups/replications.
  • Architect, optimize and support the backup of cloud systems in GCP, AWS, and other third party S3 cloud service providers.
  • Ensure the storage, backup, and DR infrastructure (both on-prem and cloud hosted) are maintained at the optimized pristine state at all the times.
  • Provide resolution of system failures including but not limited to hardware, software, firmware, systems, and applications.
  • Complete the IT projects, administrative tasks and duties in support of a team of Storage and IT Engineers dispersed globally.
  • Interact with various internal and offsite users and staff on continuous basis to get the work done.
  • Be a mentor to other team members with different skills to enhance the learning experience.
  • Participate in global weekly on-call rotation.

Your experience includes:


  • Strong experience with Storage Administration skills – SAN storage provisioning, SAN fabric zoning, provisioning of object storage through S3, Kubernetes CSI
  • Strong skills in managing the EMC, HP 3PAR, NetApps storage platforms deployed with HA mode.
  • Experience with major commercial backup solutions.
  • Experience with the implementation of Opensource S3 solution through MinIO and/or other means.
  • Has experience with cloud delivery platforms (e.g GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Experience in working with VMware environment is required.
  • Experience in Linux server administration (Redhat/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu) with automation or scripting experience.
  • Knowledge on Load Balancing, Routing, Nginx, NFS, DNS, LDAP, NTP, SMTP, Firewall and TCP/IP.
  • Exposure to using various Opensource software tools is a major plus.
  • Preferred - Understanding and experience with Kubernetes containers, its orchestration (especially Rancher) and complete K8s ecosystems (image registry, Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, Vault, etc...)
  • Preferred – Cerifications with cloud service providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure) in architecting/managing cloud services.
