We started with insurance in 2019, and since then we’ve launched loan refinancing, real-time driving insights, car diagnostics, repair marketplace, and a GPT-4 chatbot.We have aggressive goals to scale our business and grow from 5M to 50M users by 2030, and we need anEngineering Managerto lead our small and mighty organic user growth team! You will be the main creator for a powerful backend system and site architecture that will support our ability to dominate search engines, publish mass amounts of articles, and drive our organic traffic. With your guidance, we can reach customers all over the United States and make Jerry a household name. Optimization and speed are your domains, and you will stop at nothing to ensure that code quality across our product is exemplary. Driving innovation in a $2T market is no easy feat but if you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!What you'll do:Lead and mentor a team of engineers to help them excel in their roles by continuously providing guidance and feedbackProactively resolve or mitigate technical gaps that may negatively impact our SEO metrics like crawlability, site speed, etc.Collaborate with PMs, designers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure best SEO practices and optimize for performance and speedBe the gatekeeper for code quality by ensuring scalability, readability, and performanceFoster a culture of continuous learning and growth by sharing knowledge and ideasWho you are:BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, engineering, or a related field5+ years of experience in software development and 1.5+ years of experience in people management (preferred)Hold an exceptionally high bar for code efficiency and qualityHave a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountabilityOur technical stack:Language and frameworks: Typescript: Nest.js, Next.js, React, React Native, ExpoAPI: GraphQLDB: Postgres, DynamoDB, Clickhouse, RedisInfrastructure: Built on AWS, microservice architecture with containerized services deployed on ECS and EKS.
