The Manufacturing Engineer is a key role within the manufacturing department at JMA and will be based out of JMA's Liverpool, NY location and will also support our Syracuse, NY location.  This position involves optimizing and improving manufacturing processes, systems, and products.  This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient production, product quality and continuous improvement.  We will also look to this person to help mentor the younger members on our engineering team.   


Responsibilities
  • Cross Functional Coordination:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as production, design, quality, and supply chain, to align manufacturing strategies and goals.
  • Process Optimization:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce cycle times, increase productivity, and minimize waste.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the manufacturing processes and develop solutions to address them.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI):
  • Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and smooth transition from design to production.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and risk assessments for new products or process changes.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Be an advocate to help drive a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices throughout the organization.
  • Encourage the use of proven methodologies such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain high product quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing-related quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Manufacturing Documentation:
  • Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and fostering a safety-first culture among manufacturing personnel.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Generate reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor production metrics, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Equipment Learning and Development:
  • Work with team to understand all equipment on the floor from both a troubleshooting and programming standpoint.  This includes debugging and improving current programs and processes along with the development and qualification of new products or processes.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer.
  • Knowledge of fundamental design and problem-solving practices including problem definition, concept selection, proof of concept and implementation.
  • Keen ability to understand raw manufacturing data to make decisions.
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent technical writing skills & process understanding.
  • Self-direction is critical.
  • Microsoft Office suite.
  • J-STD-001 and/or IPC Training is beneficial.
  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds.


$80,000 - $110,000 a year
The US national annual base salary for this role is $80,000-$110,000. The range includes the base salary that is expected to be paid for this role. Actual base salary will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the of scope and complexity of the role, the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, peer and market data and geographic location.
