About the role:
We are looking for an experienced RPG Senior Software Engineer to join our HORIZON Banking Solutions development team and help build the next generation of Community Banking solutions at FIS. What you will be doing:
Act as iSeries SME for the HORIZON platform and for the entire HORIZON Value Stream
Reproduce reported issues to understand the root cause and gather more context, such as BCR settings
Ensuring the issue resolution and acceptance criteria adequately cover the requirements provided and getting sign-off from the stakeholders
Review and research customer-reported issues to determine if the issue is a genuine issue
Ensure all necessary information is present for accurate analysis
Quick turnaround on low/medium complexity high-impact priority issues and implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure high-quality code
Thoroughly record all issue vetting and reproduction efforts for accurate records
Assess if the issue can be resolved within the team or if it needs escalation to the Kanban or Scrum teams
Partner closely with other members of the team to propose feasible solutions to issue remediation
Engage with CX teams to gather additional information when necessary and provide updates on issue resolution status
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance issue management and resolution efficiency
Identify strategies and improvement opportunities while also reengineering processes for greater efficiency
Conduct tests to ensure changes made by programmers are correct
What you will need:
4+ years of hands-on experience in software development roles using RPGLE, CLLE, Java, Cobol, or other programming languages
3+ years of experience working on large-scale, client-facing, enterprise production software
5+ years of experience using RPGLE, Free Format RPGLE, SQL, Embedded SQL, COBOL, JCL, CL, DDS, DDL, BMS, CICS, JES, HTML, CSS.
Familiarity with C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic, SQL+, and Oracle PLSQL5+ years of RPG Development, including:
Databases: DB2/400,
Change Management: Implementer, Aldon.
Past or current mainframe experience with RPG / COBOL
Experience building FinTech, payment, or banking systems
Experience designing and implementing APIs
Experience integrating third-party vendor solutions into backend systems
Experience working in an Agile environment where production code is delivered bi-monthly
Knowledge or FIS’ products and services
Knowledge of the Financial Services Industry
Strong English communication and collaboration skills and ability to work with stakeholders
Knowledge of OS/400 and Windows 11 operating systems
Version Control: Git.
Extensive experience with end-to-end systems development life cycles and industry standards.
Recent experience leading or working on products from architectural design to production while setting and maintaining high standards of technical excellence and processes
Experience working in an Agile environment where production code is delivered bi-monthly
Working knowledge of SDLC, CI/CD and DevOps
