Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/.This role is for a Scientist within the Neuroscience Discovery group to support discovery of novel targets for Neurodegenerative and Neuropsychiatric Diseases. The position is lab-based and the primary responsibility of the Scientist is to conduct exciting research by providing technical and scientific support to develop innovative platforms, such as complex human cellular models. Responsibilities include study planning, hands-on study execution, data/statistical analysis, troubleshooting and documentation according to best business practices. The Scientist interprets and integrates data and makes recommendations for critical discovery project decisions and achievement of project goals. The qualified candidate will work in highly collaborative atmosphere with cross-functional teams.Your Key Responsibilities:• Initiates, plans, and performs studies in various in vitro disease models to validate novel targets for neurological diseases.• Analyzes, collates, and reports data to project teams and senior colleagues. Responsible for proper recording of information and data management.• Reviews proper operation and maintenance of current laboratory equipment and instruments.• Attends in-house seminars, team and departmental meetings, and regional scientific meetings as appropriate to support team goals.• Maintains compliance with trainingsQualificationsRequired:• Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or related biological science preferably with hands-on lab-based experience in either an academic or pharmaceutical setting.• Experience in lab techniques such as, cell culture, ELISA, plate-based luciferase and/or enzymatic activity assays, SDS-PAGE/western blotting, qPCR etc.• Experience working with primary neuronal cultures and/or iPSC neurons and running high-content imaging assays is preferred.• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.• Proven ability to work independently, self-motivated to learn and develop new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).• Familiar with computer software commonly used in bio/pharma industries.• Works with colleagues as a team player.• Strong organizational skills.Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
