Job Description

• Support GIS and CAD data management for parks, trails, and recreation facilities.
• Support field data collection efforts for various park assets and features.
• Conduct spatial analysis and gather information to support park planning and development projects.
• Prepare maps, reports, and visualizations for internal and public-facing uses such as public engagement and outreach.
• Collaborate with park planners and other departments to integrate GIS into park and facility management.
• Perform general office duties and assist in other projects as needed.
• $20.00 per hour (40 hr/week)

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed (0-6 months from graduation) an undergraduate degree in Geography, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Park & Recreation Management, GIS, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of GIS principles and cartography, including software such as ArcGIS and the Adobe Suite
• Basic knowledge of 2D drafting principles, including software such as AutoCAD
• Familiarity with GPS data collection, spatial analysis, and map creation.
• Be an effective and organized communicator.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience with the ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online environment.
• Ability to configure or edit maps for use in field maps or web apps.
• Exposure to concepts related to capital planning and asset management.
• Experience or coursework related to parks, recreation, or land management is a plus.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

Work will primarily be completed in an office environment requiring long periods of sitting or standing while using a computer. Work will occasionally be done in the field which may expose the individual to conditions such as cold, heat, precipitation, or other weather. The individual must be prepared to lift items up to 20lbs and/or walk continuously for 30 minutes on paved or natural trails while in the field.
