The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting will lead the Revenue Team and will be a key business partner to Sales, Revenue Ops, Legal, and FP&A. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert on revenue accounting and engage with the business to provide revenue recognition guidance in various areas, including contract reviews, non-standard sales deals, and new product introductions. You will also be responsible for documenting the Company’s accounting positions and communicating them to varying levels in the organization and external auditors. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to meet the needs of both internal and external reporting requirements. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for identifying and driving process improvement initiatives including automation, internal controls and data analytics. Eventually, this role will also oversee the entire quote-to-cash process including our Collections department. What You'll be Doing: • Supervise and manage a team of 3-4 individuals; long-term manage an extended team of 8-10 individuals across the globe and coordinate with our Global Finance center in India • Oversee billing activities and controls to ensure timely and accurate invoicing to customers • Review and approve customer contracts, change orders, SOWs, and purchase agreements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606 • Review Netsuite ARM (Advanced Revenue Module) activity to validate that revenue is recorded correctly on a monthly basis • Participate in month-end close activities by ensuring sales transactions are recorded timely and accurately, including reviewing the preparation of account reconciliations for deferred revenue and AR balances, preparing monthly flux analysis, and coordinating reporting with FP&A • Partner with Sales, Revenue Ops, Legal and Finance to assess new product offerings and go-to-market strategies for technical revenue considerations and then operationalize within the current system and ensure proper internal controls • Periodically update fair value assessments for our performance obligations under ASC 606 • Drive process improvements as they relate to the overall quote-to-cash process • Maximize the use of NetSuite and other software tools to build and automate processes and drive innovation wherever possible • Build SOX-ready controls on a global basis within the quote-to-cash process • Draft or review technical revenue memos to document key revenue conclusions and lead the continued improvement of the Company’s revenue-related policies • Develop and mentor the revenue team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development and improvement. Ensure the team maintains knowledge of current accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements as they relate to revenue recognition • Participate in annual audits conducted by external auditors and take ownership of controls and supporting audit documentation in the revenue and receivables space • Other ad-hoc projects and duties as needed We're Looking for: • The ideal candidate is a CPA with at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a publicly traded, high-tech organization with a minimum of 2 years in a revenue-specific role. You should have experience from a global, growing SaaS company. Our ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background, and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced and rapid-change, team-oriented, collaborative environment. This person genuinely enjoys leading, developing and mentoring their team fostering a culture of continuous learning. This position reports to the Controller. Preferred Qualifications: • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance • CPA certification • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm, a global/publicly traded high-tech organization, or start-up to IPO experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a revenue role • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and primarily revenue recognition (ASC 606) as it applies to SaaS revenue • Experience with Netsuite’s Advanced Revenue Module in Netsuite is required • Experience with Salesforce CPQ a plus • Must have experience managing distributed and remote teams • Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about issues, leading to recommendations and action plans • Attention to detail and experience multitasking and prioritizing to deliver impact in a fast-paced environment • Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills, including the ability to research accounting literature and simplify complex situations • Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual compensation range for this role, depending on individual candidate level and experience, is $170,000 - $180,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. For US Roles: All roles posted in United States locations do require that you be located within one of the 50 U.S. States. Our Headquarters is in the Denver/Boulder, CO area but as a remote company, you are able to work remotely anywhere in the U.S. If you would like to spend time in our offices in the Denver/Boulder area, you are welcome to do that as well.
