Junior Architect or Engineer - Facades

DeSimone Consulting Engineers is looking for recent graduates or entry-level design professionals to join our growing Façades division in our New York office. During your career at DeSimone, you will have the chance to work alongside talented and established professionals within the industry. You will also have the opportunity to work on multiple phases of different projects concurrently and gain a well-rounded understanding of the building envelope through design efforts and field inspections.

This position is classified as full-time, salaried, exempt. The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 based on qualifications and location.

Responsibilities:

• Perform modeling of building enclosure details and systems
• Produce drawings using AutoCAD
• Assist with engineering façade calculations with various materials
• Assist in developing jobs at all project phases
• As more training, experience, and exposure to projects is gained, the teammate will be expected to perform the following:
• Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, owners, and developers at all project phases to assist with delivering feedback, guidance, and recommendations with reports, markups, sketches, spreadsheets, and analyses that address conformance to architectural intent, long term performance, sustainability, scheduling, and budget objectives.
• Review shop drawings and construction administration submittals.
• Perform field inspections on construction sites, manufacturing plants, and test laboratories.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
• Interest in the Façade / Building Envelope industry
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Good sketching skills and an ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
• Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in (or possesses the ability to quickly learn) both manual and software-assisted calculation and analysis
• Ability to efficiently work on projects independently or as part of a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD software

Preferred:

• Master’s Degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Previous experience with a design firm
• Proficiency with Revit software
• Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
