Junior Cloud Engineer Supporting Research Team

The Analytical and Spatial Intelligence Research Team (ASIRT) at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking scientists/researchers interested in developing and deploying novel and highly efficient algorithms to run on various computing platforms (in the cloud, desktop computers, and mobile devices) with and without using graphics processing units (GPUs). We are a close-knit team of creative thinkers from diverse backgrounds who collaborate to find non-standard solutions to challenging problems.

Junior Cloud Engineer Supporting Research Team Position Highlights:

• Responsible for planning, implementation, and growth of an AWS cloud infrastructure
• Build, release, and manage the configuration of production systems
• Build/manage continuous testing, integration, and deployment of server-based technologies
• Understand the latest cloud toolsets and applications to consider alternatives and improve system performance
• Support an algorithm research team’s ability to access cloud-compute resources efficiently and cost-effectively
• Build and maintain Docker containers to support the algorithm research team

Junior Cloud Engineer Supporting Research Team Required Experience & Skills:

• US Citizenship
• Masters of Science degree or above in a related discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics)
• Strong interest in gaining experience in the areas specified in the Position Highlights
• Strong foundation in software development in any of the following: Python, C/C++, Java, or other low-level and high-level programming languages
• Proficiency in script development and scripting languages
• Experience with collaborative software development and version control

Junior Cloud Engineer Supporting Research Team Desirable (Not Required) Experience & Skills:

• Experience with DevOps tools in a cloud environment (Docker, GitHub, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Experience using monitoring solutions like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Prometheus
• Experience in Linux system administration
• Experience developing software for execution on edge devices (GPUs, mobile phones, deployed CPU)
• Experience working on intelligence and DoD programs

Anticipated salary range: $60,000-$85,000. Offer may vary depending on experience and skill set.
