Jupiter seeks to grow its team with the recruitment of integral personnel to assist its settlements and risk management operations.  The Settlements & Credit Manager is responsible for analyzing, interpreting and summarizing settlements with ISOs and with OTC counterparties and, together with the Controller, ensuring necessary operational data is captured by the financial systems for the use of management and investors.  At an advanced level, the Analyst performs modeling and sensitivity analysis to develop and implement credit risk mitigation strategies, such as securing collateral, letters of credit, or parental guarantees storage projects, and if applicable, valuation of offtake or hedge contracts. This individual will be an effective team-player and detail-oriented to be successful in this role.   

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Assist in establishing and running routine processes for verification of settlements, daily and monthly P&L reporting and variance analysis 
  • Drive continual improvement and streamline processes using standardization and automation to scale the business 
  • Address new requests: understand the core question being asked, capture needed data, build models, validate assumptions, perform analyses, summarize and present results in a compelling manner 
  • Market Settlements: Ensure compliance with regional energy market rules (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, ISO, etc.) and manage settlement processes related to these markets. 
  • Monitor, forecast & stress test Jupiter credit exposure and requirements across markets 
  • Billing and Invoicing: Ensure accurate invoicing for energy trading activities and manage accounts receivable/payable for power transactions 
  • Partner with key stakeholders, collaborating and contributing to achieve shared goals 
  • Use information and analysis to influence decision making 
  • Support VP of Risk/Settlement and other management in regular finance reporting, risk management processes and management reporting 

 

Jupiter seeks individuals eager to develop their core wholesale power market knowledge, learn new areas of the business and take on additional responsibilities within this small dynamic team. Secondary responsibilities will be tailored to individual candidate backgrounds as well as company priorities 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field (advanced degree or certification like CFA/FRM is a plus). 
  • 3+ years work experience in energy trading, settlement, risk and/or accounting   
  • Strong knowledge of power markets and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO/RTO markets like ERCOT, PJM, NYISO). 
  • Experience performing wholesale power market settlements, position analysis, margin accruals and reporting 
  • Experience performing P&L variance analyses 
  • Experience with ERCOT settlement  
  • Experience interfacing with traders, mid-office, accounting, and operations to develop efficient communications and capture all relevant data for valuation, exposure tracking and reporting 
  • Familiarity with effective data visualization, such as Power BI 
  • Expertise with MS Office applications 
  • Ability to travel moderately as needed at least quarterly for 2-4 days. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Self-motivated and highly organized team player with keen attention to detail 

Preferred 

  • Familiarity with energy storage facilities and technologies 
  • Experience with contract credit exposure 
  • Technology Skills: Experience with settlement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and credit risk management tools, SQL, Python 

Compensation and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.  The role will be based in Houston, TX.
