Juvenile Justice Residential Cook

$5,000 Sign On Bonus

Eliot is currently seeking a Residential Cook to oversee the planning, preparation, and coordination of meals for one of its Juvenile Justice programs. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience in a food service setting as well as knowledge of food ordering, menu planning, nutrition, and health codes.

Eliot’s juvenile justice programming includes a residential network for youth ages 13 to 21 who are court-involved and need placement while awaiting return to court, assessment, or longer-term treatment. These highly structured, self-contained programs offer a comprehensive intervention for juvenile offenders.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and/or follow a weekly menu consisting of well-balanced nutritious meals that meet USDA requirements ensuring proper taste and temperature.
  • Prepare appetizing, healthy, well-balanced meals, and snacks.
  • Inspect all food for quality and quantity prior to serving.
  • Assure that menus and meals are culturally diverse, in accordance with the ethnic backgrounds of residents.
  • Prepare meals for special events and Holidays.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with food suppliers.
  • Use comparative shopping among suppliers for the best prices within budget.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and purchase food.
  • Maintain paperwork according to the policy including, documentation on menus, invoices, inventory, recipes, allergy lists.
  • Ensure the Culinary Arts Vocational curriculum is established and functional in the assigned program.
  • Work with residents to teach food service skills in accordance with Culinary Arts Curriculum.
  • Keep the kitchen area clean and sanitary in compliance with all health codes and regulations.
  • Participate in the Federal School Lunch program when applicable and maintain required documentation.
  • Participate in Food Bank, Eliot Distribution Center, and other bulk buying programs.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Serve Safe and Sanitation Standards.

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 9am-5pm
