The Role


We are seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Security Engineering team. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient systems to support Kasada’s mission of stopping bad bots. As a Staff Engineer, you will bring a high level of technical expertise and leadership to the team, while also fostering collaboration and understanding across teams and stakeholders.


This role requires a balance of deep technical skills and highly developed interpersonal skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design innovative solutions, mentor team members, and contribute to the strategic direction of the Security Engineering team.


What you will be doing
  • Technical Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient systems to support Kasada’s bot mitigation capabilities.
  • Lead the architectural design of complex systems within AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architectural diagrams and design decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Threat Intelligence and Security Operations teams to integrate intelligence-driven insights into system designs.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance Kasada’s security engineering capabilities.

  • Collaboration and Leadership
  • Act as a technical leader and mentor within the Security Engineering/Operations team, guiding junior and mid-career engineers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration by actively seeking to understand differing viewpoints and facilitating respectful discussions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Threat Intelligence, and Customer Success, to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Advocate for best practices in system design, security, and scalability across the organisation.

  • AWS at a large scale, protecting our customers from automated scripts and bots. 
  • A dedicated team of security engineers and analysts building detections for some of the largest brands in the world
  • Working across teams to collaborate and innovate, all while supporting our growing list of customers
  • Working with Kasada’s proprietary bot detection and mitigation technologies.


What you will bring
  • Technical Skills
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing systems within AWS or similar cloud-based platforms.
  • Deep understanding of rules engines, including architectural considerations, scaling strategies, and operational processes.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, incident response methodologies, and threat intelligence.
  • Experience working with large-scale, distributed systems and designing for high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Experience in analytical processes, having worked in identifying threats within large enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of web technologies and protocols to analyse and mitigate bot traffic targeting websites, mobile apps, and APIs
