Key Responsibilities:

  • Support National Space Defense Center (NSDC) Director of Resources and Capability Integration (NSDC 8) as senior advisor to Director responsible for managing and executing NSDC operations budget, integrating new space superiority systems to the Operations Floor, and advocating for operator / user requirements to higher headquarters at US Space Command and US Space Force.

    Author, critically review, and/or coordinate staff review of documents, briefings, and products supporting resourcing and capability integration decisions, to include relevant space operations, command and control, wargaming, exercises, intelligence support, and other operational or functional areas in support of the NSDC Director of Resources in support of NSDC mission execution. 

    Develop, execute, monitor, and/or refine Directorate processes and procedures to maintain efficient and consistent information and task flows to, from, and within the Directorate in support of internal NSDC, external partner, and higher headquarters taskings, workflows, and meetings.  

    Assist with functional review of operational and resourcing inputs from other NSDC directorates and divisions, e.g., current operations, future operations, etc., on topics related to resourcing and capability integration. 

    Duty at Schriever SFB, CO with opportunity for remote work consistent with Directorate requirements. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responsible for providing subject matter expertise support to the NSDC Director of Resources and Capability Integration on matters affecting policies, practices, and operations relevant to resourcing and capability integration functions for all aspects of NSDC operations, to include: programming, planning, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) processes and decisions; and capability integration processes and decisions. 

    Responsibilities will include typical staffing roles/functions, correspondence review/processing, assistance with planning, development, creation, review, coordination, and completion of affiliated documents, products, submissions, briefings, and reports as required for various aspects supporting the Directorate’s resourcing and capability integration functions within the NSDC.  

    The position is working for the Director of Resources and Capability Integration.  The individual will regularly collect, consolidate, organize, draft, produce, and coordinate materials and publications, as well as coordinate with the U.S. Government (USG) customer to establish plans and schedules for current and future activities.  The individual will assist the USG customer with planning, coordination, briefing, and executing support tasks for the Director of Resources and Capability Integration.  The individual will also coordinate with the USG customer to complete related tasks in accordance with USG customer direction and guidance.  

    Applicant must be self-motivated, team-oriented, able to adapt to dynamic environments, and willing to work with personnel from other organizations and companies.  

    Shall assist with the following: 

    • Support the NSDC Director of Resources and Capability Integration with assigned programs, taskings, and processes. 

    • Edit, review, author, and brief correspondence, documents, briefings, and other products, and conduct activities in support of the NSDC Director of Resources and Capability Integration. 

    • Attend coordination, planning, and staff meetings and conduct review of programs, desired objectives, and participant supporting capabilities in support of Director of Resourcing and Capability Integration decisions.  

    • Coordinate with and assist NSDC directorates and other supporting organizations as needed to meet NSDC Director of Resources and Capability Integration requirements. 

    • Plan for and coordinate resourcing, budgeting, finance execution, capability integration tasks, and other functions with capability owners, partner organizations, process owners, and associated stakeholders.  

    • Maintain awareness of NSDC Director of Resources and Capability Integration daily, weekly, monthly battle rhythm requirements and support scheduling and preparation of related products. 

    • Perform additional supporting duties as required or identified.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site in the National Space Defense Center at Schriever Space Force Base
  • Travel Requirements: 10% or Less Minimal Travel
  • Working Hours: Part Time

Requirements: 

• Active Top Secret clearance required.  Willingness to submit to initial and random counter-intelligence polygraph(s) required. 

• Bachelors Degree required.  Bachelors Degree in STEM area highly desired. Masters Degree highly desired.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  

• Corresponding staff experience in systems engineering, capability integration, resourcing, budget execution, and PPBE is highly desired.

• Corresponding staff experience in one or more of the following: field component HQ (e.g., brigade-level, wing-level, major service component, systems program office, Combatant Command, Service Component HQ required; Combined Forces Space Component Command, Space Forces Space, and/or Joint Staff is highly desired. 

• Ability to speak in public, brief senior leaders (O-6 and above), and write effectively required.  

• Ability to operate independently and manage team elements to meet contract requirements required. 

• Experience leading diverse teams and personnel of varying experience levels and skill sets required. 

• 20+ years of experience in performing related tasks in military units preferred. 

• Ability and willingness to travel (less than 10% estimate). 

Desired:

  • • Defense Acquisition University certification (practitioner or advanced, current or prior) is highly desired, to include: Program Management; Systems Planning, Research, Development & Engineering; and Test & Evaluation. 

    • Military Assistant / Executive Officer / Executive Assistant to senior leader experience is highly desired.

    • Graduated commander and/or operations officer (DO)/executive officer (XO) experience, combatant command headquarters, Joint Staff, service headquarters, and/or major command headquarters/systems program office branch chief (or higher) experience is desired. 

    • Experience in Joint Planning Process (JPP); Military Decision Making Process (MDMP); Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX) enterprise; EXORDS; OPORDS; Planning Initiation; Mission Analysis; Course of Action (COA) development; Joint Doctrine development, Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes, Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), war gaming and exercises, is highly desired. 

    • Familiarity with military operations, personnel, regulations, and organizations is highly desired. 

    • Familiarity with defense workflow processing software (TMT, JSAP, etc.) is desired.

    • Familiarity with National Space Defense Center mission areas is required.  Familiarity with National Reconnaissance Office mission areas is required.  Familiarity with Space Situational Awareness/Space Domain Awareness, Space Command and Control, Degraded/Denied/Disrupted Space Operations Environment (D3SOE), intelligence systems and operating concepts, Integrated Joint Special Technical Operations (IJSTO) and/or multidomain operations experience is highly desired.  

    • National Space Defense Center experience is highly desired.

    • Experience with Microsoft Office software suite preferred 

Basic Compensation:

$67-76/hour

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
