Central Lab Specialist - Lab Support

When you work as a Central Lab Specialist on the Laboratory Support team at KCAS Bio, you get to further our mission by recording/tracking biological and analytical samples received for Central Lab storage and following distribution protocols.  

 

The Central Lab team uses their expertise to secure the receipt, distribution, storage, and destruction of biological and analytical samples.  


They also communicate with laboratory personnel and clients to ensure documentation, sample database entry, discrepancy reporting, packaging, and mailing of all samples.


In this role, we will rely on you to: 
  • Logs incoming shipments in Central Lab database and confirms sample details versus manifest 
  • Communicates sample receipt to originating clinical site and client   
  • Reports sample condition on receipt and discrepancies to clinical site and client 
  • With supervision, understands basics of clinical trial protocols and relationship to study samples received and clinical kitting supplies 
  • Log samples out of database to receiving lab and prepare packing materials for sample shipments 
  • Maintain accurate freezer inventory of all study related biological test samples in house 
  • Maintain Chain of Custody of for all samples 
  • Assist as necessary in tracking samples through short or long-term storage, shipment and/or disposal according to client request 
  • Maintain supply inventory and order supplies, prepare barcoded labels, collection containers, tubes, sample storage boxes, and other clinical supplies 
  • Fulfill client orders for kits, and move, pack, and lift large boxes for clinical supplies 
  • Communicate with couriers and agencies to understand and comply with foreign and domestic shipping regulations 
  • Work with minimal supervision and assist with problem solving for transaction discrepancies 
  • Other duties as assigned 


To qualify specifically for this role, you will have:
  • Associate's degree and 2 years of related experience 
  • Experience with Blood Borne Pathogen/Safety/PPE 
  • Experience with relevant government and agency regulations 
  • IATA, BBP, and PPE training preferred
