Kelly Services is seeking a purchasing assistant for a medical device manufacturer in Williamsburg, VA.This is a 6 month contract role with benefits (PTO, paid holidays, health/life insurance, 401k, etc).THIS POSITION IS IN-OFFICE in Williamsburg, VA and can not accomodate any remote work.Hours are 7a-3:30pm Mon-Fri with little to no OT.This role ensures smooth and timely flow of product through the supply chain. Calls on and works late supplier purchase orders. Acts as point of contact for purchase order maintenance for receiving discrepancies. Conducts purchase order maintenance & clean up. Identifies problem vendors and escalates as necessary. Provides purchasing support to SurgiTrack program. Identifies receives Distribution Center delays and works with the Inventory and Operations Managers to resolve.Responsibilities include:• Follows up on and expedites late open purchase orders for all Suppliers at assigned DC’s. Updates expected receipt dates for late orders as needed.• Conducts purchase order maintenance and clean-up.Researches and communicates with vendors regarding discrepancies between vendor shipped quantity and receipt quantity.• Acts as point of contact for purchase order maintenance for receiving discrepancies. Inputs purchase order changes (receiving discrepancies, order quality differences, etc.).• Serves as DC point of contact for Home Office inquiries on purchase order items and line item price variance.• Identifies problem vendors and escalates relevant issues (consistent late orders, receiving discrepancies caused by damaged or missing product, missed delivery appointments, etc.).• Provides support to SurgiTrack product orders, ensuring appropriate component inventory levels to support SurgiTrack kit production.• Identifies receiving delays at the DC’s and works with the DC Inventory/Operations Managers to resolve.Education/Experience:• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.• Experience planning and managing purchase orders or shipments• Ability to effectively communicate with and manage vendors/suppliers• Ability to evaluate and resolve semi-complex issues in rapidly changing environment• Experienced with a supply chain/purchase order management system• Knowledge of common supply chain related documentation• Ability to discern errors within highly complex or detailed work• Good communicator.• Ability to take initiative in a changing environment.• Flexibility and ability to lead and work as part of a team• ‘The Customer Always Comes First’ focus
