Role & responsabilities:
As Senior system Engineer, you will be accountable for the following tasks:
Electrical and Controls System Design:
· Research, select, and apply sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication.
· Create, review, and maintain electrical design documentation such as schematic diagrams and layout documents.
· Troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical issues. This includes work with common tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.
· Performs hands-on work when needed.
· Develop architecture and software for embedded systems, HMIs, and peripherals.
· Understand, develop, and debug low-level software routines as well as system-wide software architectures.
· Perform application programming on specialized platforms with applications in automation and robotics.
Mechanical Engineering:
· Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
· Make basic drawings and have the capacity to prototype for proof-of-concept validation.
· Work directly with in-house machinist to ensure engineering designs are scheduled for completion and properly fabricated.
Commissioning:
· Perform system setup and commissioning of company products for deployment at customer sites or at company’s workshop.
· Perform on-site installations, system setups, troubleshooting and limited repairs onsite as well as in the office.
· Create documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
· Provide direct phone and email support for new and difficult applications.
· Serve as liaison with customers to resolve problems and inquiries.
· Provide customer on-site and in-office training for operators and maintenance personnel.
Project Manage and Document:
· Crafts project plans, setting goals/target specs, and KPIs.
· Owns the quality of execution, iteration speed, quality of the decision-making, and quality of the results (as appropriate) of projects.
· Leads projects and is responsible for technical leadership within projects. Consistently and successfully delegates work and divides up complex tasks for project teams.
· Manages outside projects and or teams when necessary.
· Engages with the outside world in areas relevant to the company; leverages existing capabilities of outside firms, experts, and institutions to the project's advantage.
The ideal candidate would have:
· Seven or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree. Five or more years of experience with a Master’s Degree. Three or more years of experience with a PhD.
· Able to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Acts as a role model for junior engineers. Approachable for technical guidance and mentorship and supervises the activities of others.
· Working knowledge of the following platforms: Windows 7 desktop and Linux embedded products.
· Proficiency with machine shop tools: drill press, lathe, sanders and band saw.
· The knowledge and interpersonal capability to work within an engineering development team that spans multiple disciplines (electrical, software, mechanical, systems engineering).
· Embedded system development including circuit board development and troubleshooting, commercial microprocessor platforms and architectures (e.g. ARM), and memory management.
· C/C++ and (optionally) .NET C#, JavaScript, JSON, and Node.js. Can understand, develop, and debug low-level software routines as well as system-wide software architectures.
· Troubleshooting electromechanical problems, identifying the most likely faults in the mechanical, electrical or software depending on the fault
· Mechanical and electrical design tools such as Solidworks, Catia, Altium, etc.
· Safety risk assessments including identifying risks and appropriately mitigating those risks according to required performance levels.
· ·PLCs and safety controllers, especially Siemens products
· System level architecture including functional analysis, block diagrams, network diagrams, etc.
