Wire Harness Manager

Expertise and Functions

  • Aid in Business Development for WEPG:
    • Assist in developing a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction
    • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
    • Promote KIHOMAC’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives
    • Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc.
    • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers, suppliers, and vendors
    • Provide input to responses to opportunities, solicitations, RFIs, RFPs, White Papers, etc.
    • Create business strategies and propose implementation methods
    • Aid in creation and execution of business plans, budgets, and schedules
    • Manage, foster, and grow relationships with shareholders
  • Ensure team members comply with company and legal requirements
  • Provide support to either Program/Project Manager or Engineering personnel in the areas of project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation, test, or validation/verification assistance
  • Manage/oversee/perform test or project events as assigned by leadership, report status and results
  • Manage multiple teams and perform in a Subject Matter Expert and/or Quality inspector capacity
  • Perform In-Process and Final Quality inspections
  • Follow engineering guidance, technical orders, and drawings
  • Make recommendations for improvements to enhance concept, quality, manufacturability, and maintainability
  • Manage, perform, and oversee moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment
  • Perform and inspect wire terminations and wire harness and electronic component assembly
  • Assemble, test, solder, and inspect as required per customer and/or industry standards
  • Perform electrical checkout of manufactured wire harnesses and electronic components
  • Create, document, and maintain records identifying compliance with assigned tasks and requirements
  • Establish, organize, and maintain detailed inventory of government, customer and KIHOMAC property.
  • Build/assemble units for production according to designs, specifications, and work instructions
  • Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per predetermined processes
  • Develop, update, maintain work instructions, work control documents, and training records
  • Develop/Administer Training on ESD, Soldering, General Wiring Procedures, Harness manufacturing
  • Research/document materials/work-center requirements for bid proposals
  • Maintain accountability and serviceability of all KIHOMAC materials, tools, and test equipment within area of responsibility
  • Ensure proper tools are sourced and used per customer/MFG requirements
  • Attend meetings, report/brief status updates and results as required
  • Provide leadership and management direction to assigned employees to ensure quality performance in support of Government programs
  • Communicate with Government leads to ensure contractual needs and concerns are addressed
  • Execute personnel-related activities to include:
    • Create realistic and accurate job descriptions
    • Direct employee workload to ensure productivity and performance against job description
    • Engage to manage positive employee relations and workplace atmosphere; work to resolve any personnel issues
    • Conduct ongoing feedback – both informal and semiannual feedback, counseling if necessary
    • Advise management as to which employees deserve recognition including but not limited to raises, promotions and awards
    • Manage accuracy of employee timecards
    • Ensure employees receive and perform any required training for position and company needs
    • Guide employees to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies/processes
    • Serve as link between upper management and employees; disseminate company information as appropriate – goals/changes/updates/news
    • Oversee employee training for both position and company needs
    • Coordinate with Director and/or VP on corporate matters
  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment always
  • Observes all safety rules and maintains a clean and foreign object damage (FOD) free work area
  • Mentor and provide safe work environment for employees
  • Learn and manage top-level programs or multiple smaller programs
  • Develop and implement plans and objectives for the department in an effective and innovative fashion
  • Oversee management and maintenance of a manufacturing environment in accordance with company procedures and AS9100 requirements
  • Provide support in the areas of project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation, test, or validation/verification assistance
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Training: 

  • Associates’s Degree in technical, business, or related field required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
  • 5-years of direct experience, in addition to required experience below, can be used as an education equivalency for a Associates’s degree
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 Certification desired

Experience:

  • U.S. military aircraft maintenance and wiring experience highly desired
  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment always
  • Discipline in wire harness maintenance/build-up and soldering practices required
  • Advanced understanding of electrical circuits required
  • Experience with Leadership/Management of a team and/or manufacturing environment required
  • Interpretation of manufacturing drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams required
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relational databases and software (e.g. ERP)
  • Ability to use various hand tools, soldering equipment, and machinery required
  • Wire termination experience using DMC Tools “Daniels Kit” style tools required
  • Strong understanding of identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing malfunctions required
  • Knowledge of cable assembly procedures required
  • Ability to identify/assign priorities based on time constraints and resources available required
  • Familiarity with USAF TO 1-1A-14 (AKA NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 or TM 1-1500-323-21-1) required
  • Basic knowledge or understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 required

Security:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, able to bend, stretch, work with hands, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirator as needed
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
