Our Team


The Kraken FinOps team is responsible for cloud cost management and optimization of our AWS and SaaS spend, ensuring we maximize the value we get from our vendors. We sit within the wider Global Platform Engineering department, and provide the tooling, education and operational framework required for our stakeholders to take accountability for costs within their domains.


The team currently consists of a Lead Finops analyst and is in its early stages of maturity. As the team grows, we are looking to expand the team’s capabilities to create data-driven reporting for cost management and optimisation in partnership with Finance, Data, Engineering, and Product teams.


What you'll do
  • Become a subject matter expert on cloud financial management best practices, cost management mechanisms, and cost-effective cloud architecture
  • Build core cost datasets and reporting capable of answering key business questions
  • Liaise and collaborate with vendor account teams
  • Create reports identifying optimisation opportunities and reduce waste, tracking opportunities to resolution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and their teams to support them with FinOps tools, processes, and data.
  • Build and maintain dashboards for senior and technical stakeholders
  • Create and maintain internal documentationWork on strategic projects end to end
  • Contribute to the development of the FinOps team


What you'll need
  • Technical understanding of core AWS service offerings and architecting cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of, or strong interest in learning about FinOps and cloud financial management
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Curious and self driven - when faced with a new problem is capable of seeking out an answer without lots of help and support
  • Proficient in DBT and SQL, capable of working on large complex datasets to support assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Experience in BI/dashboarding e.g. Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Lightdash
  • Experience with scripting language like Python
  • Experience working in a modern cloud data warehouse environment
  • Experience working collaboratively on codebases using git
