Job Title: VP, Finance 

Employment Type:  Full-Time, Regular Hire 

Expected Hours:  approximately 40 hours per week 

FLSA Status:  Exempt, Salary 

Work Location:  Fully Remote (within the U.S.) 

Expected Base Pay Range:  $160,000 - $170,000 per year depending on qualifications 

Bonus Eligibility:  Yes, discretionary bonuses 

 

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Kruze Consulting provides accounting services to over 800+ startups backed by top tier venture capital funds. The VP of Finance is responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the company's internal financial activities and team. They are planning, directing, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the company’s financial strategy, management, and operations. As the leader of the corporate finance team, the VP of Finance will report directly to the CEO and have a seat on the Executive Leadership team to shape the company’s strategic direction as well as playing a critical role in the overall success of the firm. Additionally, they possess strong leadership skills to foster a collaborative environment and drive performance for the internal finance team. Strong analytical skills, business acumen, attention to detail, a passion for coaching and developing others, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are essential for this position.

NEED TO HAVE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

·       Bachelor's degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration 

·       15+ years of corporate experience with 10+ years of management/leadership experience 

·       Significant experience in internal/corporate finance role at a professional services firm - accounting, consulting, law firm, IT, marketing/PR/advertising  

·       Exceptional business acumen with a strategic focus and the ability to partner with stakeholders to drive business outcomes  

·       Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles 

·       Knowledge of accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, laws, standards, and state/national regulations 

·       Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team of accounting/finance professionals  

·       Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (MS Excel and Google Sheets) 

·       Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 

·       Meticulous attention to detail – able to follow through/execute on a high volume of nuanced tasks 

·       Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced setting with a wide variety of tasks 

·       A love of rapidly changing technology/software solutions that maximize efficiency and deliver firmwide value 

 

NICE TO HAVE/POSITION PREFERENCES

·       Licensed CPA, CFA Charterholder, and/or MBA 

·       Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or NetSuite 

·       Experience leveraging PowerBI to uncover/analyze useful financial insights 

·       Experience in a fully remote people-centric culture 

·       Experience in a high growth/startup/entrepreneurial environment 

·       Experience with tech-forward accounting platforms such as Brex, Bill.com, Stripe, and Rippling  


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis (70% of the time) 

·       Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making to leadership 

·       Develop and implement financial strategies for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning 

·       Review and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement 

·       Forge close collaborations with other departments to uphold financial data precision and regulatory adherence 

·       Streamline operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs by implementing best practices in financial management 

·       Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with operational goals 

·       Manage capital structure and allocation to optimize financial performance 

Compliance & Risk Management (10% of the time) 

·       Identify and mitigate financial risks by instituting industry best practices and maintain effective internal policies 

·       Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas 

People Management & Coaching: (10% of the time) 

·       Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve high performance 

·       Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth 

Other (10% of the time) 

·       Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, banks, auditors, vendors, and other stakeholders

Physical Requirements

Extended periods of focused, seated computer work – approximately 8 hours a day
