Automation and Process Engineer

Allow me to introduce you to Kutol Products Company, we are a thriving hand soap and hand sanitizer manufacturer operating out of our 205,000 square foot facility in Sharonville, Ohio. We process batches and package liquid hand soaps and hand sanitizers across a variety of filling lines. We are currently seeking an Automation and Process Engineer to join us in our purpose of providing “Clean Hands for a Healthy World.” 

At Kutol the Automation and Process Engineer will be responsible for identifying opportunities for designing and implementing automated systems and leading/contributing to continuous improvement projects. This role requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a strong background in engineering principles, automation technologies, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovating within a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to driving efficiency and productivity.

The responsibilities of this position include

Automation Design and Implementation.

  • Identify processes within the manufacturing facility that can be improved through automation.
  • Design, develop, and implement automated systems and equipment to enhance production efficiency and quality of product.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of new processes and equipment, adjusting as necessary.
  • Ensure that all automated systems comply with safety standards and regulations.

Process Optimization.

  • Support/lead the analysis of current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and successfully implement process improvements across multiple shifts to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Management.

  • Lead and manage automation and process improvement projects from conception to completion.
  • Lead and support the purchase of automation and process improvement equipment as identified through data driven means.
  • Identify packaging configurations that can be optimized and manage projects to see changes through with internal teams and outside vendors.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Technical Support & Training.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automated systems and equipment.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime of automated systems.
  • Support Quality Assurance in maintaining documentation for all automated systems, including schematics, SOPs, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on new processes and equipment

Product Development Assistance.

  • Assist Kutol’s Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) Department in the product development process. Help to create new soap dispensers, containers, closures, packaging configurations, etc...

Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education/Experience·

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related).
  • 3+ years of experience in automation engineering required. 3+ years of experience in process engineering or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including PLCs, robotics, sensors, and control systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Certification in one of these methodologies preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in CAD software and other engineering design tools.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards in a manufacturing environment.

  • Analytical Ability: able to evaluate diverse data sets and determine cause/effect relationships. Able to isolate key information and determine the impact of process or procedure changes.
  • Problem Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on approach to identify effective and efficient solutions for complex problems that drive results.
  • Organizational Leadership: ability to apply organizational leadership concepts to engage and motivate others to successfully implement change.
  • Written/Verbal Communication: can quickly and effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity by driving for results and managing changing scope. Can quickly adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
  • Ability to Work Independently: self-motivated and self-led.
  • Priority Setting: Manage multiple competing deadlines and objectives. Focused to ensure critical tasks are prioritized appropriately.
  • Planning: Organizes all work in a manner that ensures projects move swiftly while balancing workload. Holds self and others accountable to deadlines.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
  • Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone
  • Hand/eye coordination (computers and other tasks)
  • Mental/visual stamina (computers and data analysis tasks)
  • Ability to handle simultaneous priorities, deadlines and tasks
  • Lift up to 40 lbs

The Automation and Process Engineer hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday-Friday. Salary for qualified candidates will be $100k annually. A review of your performance will be made after three months in the position, and performance and compensation reviewed on your one-year anniversary.
