Perform traffic control within worksites/zones for construction projects on JBLM.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
The Flagger will direct traffic for road construction crews.
Flaggers will work alone or with other flaggers with each standing at opposite ends of the construction area to help coordinate traffic flow via communication by two-way radio.
Flaggers often work long hours in a variety of weather conditions that include; rain, snow, extreme heat and cold.
Flaggers often stand for long hours with few breaks. Breaks will be determined by the construction crew you are working with. At the same time, you must remain alert to your surroundings and keep traffic moving while ensuring the safety of motorists, construction workers and yourself.
Flaggers must work well alone and as a member of a team.
Flaggers MUST be professional and courteous at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications and experience:
Must be alert at all times
Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
Recognize not to stand where you cannot be easily seen by motorists
Always stand while flagging/directing traffic
Use proper hand signals with STOP/SLOW paddle
Stay compliant with all safety equipment/gear
Cannot leave your post unless properly relieved
Must be 18 years of age
Must have valid Federally Accepted identity
Must have ability to obtain a flagger certificate card (We will assist with this)
