Department Summary
Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is a vibrant department, which comprises five units, and approximately 270 employees: Facilities Services, Utilities & Energy, Campus Planning, Office of Sustainability, and Design & Construction. Facilities Services (FS) is responsible for the management of human, financial and material resources, the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures related to the operation, maintenance, repair and minor renovation of university buildings, grounds and infrastructure systems. These services provide the University of Oregon community with a safe, efficient, reliable, functional and aesthetically pleasing learning environment in support of the University’s mission and vision.
The Exterior Landscape crew provides a quality environment for students, staff, and community through the exterior maintenance, landscaping, tree care, seasonal/inclement weather response, pest removal and trash removal.
Position Summary
The purpose of the Landscape Maintenance Coordinator is to function as the first line assistant to the Landscape Maintenance Supervisor and to coordinate landscape maintenance and construction activities, as well as helping to achieve overall Facilities Services goals. This position coordinates the work of all the Classified Grounds Maintenance Worker and Grounds Maintenance student workers for Facilities Services.
The Landscape Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for estimating, scheduling and assigning specific work duties and equipment. This includes arranging for supplies and coordinating work with vendors, other skilled trades, and outside agencies or departments. This position maintains the maintenance records, monitors inventory, initiates purchases for maintenance supplies, and oversees the automated irrigation systems. Additionally, this position is expected to develop quality landscape and irrigation improvement projects by independently meeting with designers, evaluating blueprints and existing conditions, and coordinating maintenance activities with construction contractors. In the event of an emergency, this position will respond to the inclement weather plan. The person in the position will attend crew meetings, work planning, and training sessions.
Interactions and contacts occur daily with the campus community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies. This position is responsible for making decisions for the Landscape Team as to work priorities, work assignments, quality assurance, scheduling, performance standards, necessary materials and equipment, the means of accomplishing duties, and personal and public safety. These decisions affect work productivity and protection of the aesthetic quality and monetary investment in the campus landscape.
Work is reviewed regularly by the Landscape Maintenance Supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 6am – 2:30pm
Driving Requirement:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.
Essential Personnel:
This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
