Buyer - Defense Manufacturing

Salary: $70,000 - 90,000/year

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Procurement Buyer with a specialization in electronics to join our dynamic procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of electronic components and systems essential to our defense manufacturing operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our projects are supplied with high-quality materials at competitive prices, while maintaining compliance with defense industry standards and regulations.


Responsibilities
  • Procurement Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for electronic components and systems, aligned with company goals and defense industry requirements.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions and long-term strategies.
  • Supplier Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers of electronic components, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Negotiation & Contracting:
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal agreements.
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts to ensure compliance with legal and industry regulations.
  • Purchase Order Management:
  • Create and manage purchase orders for electronic components, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Monitor order fulfillment, manage inventory levels, and address any discrepancies or delays.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with defense industry regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to verify the performance and reliability of procured electronic components.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Analyze procurement data and market trends to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives to management.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on electronics or defense manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, systems, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with defense industry regulations and compliance standards is preferred.
