Buyer (GovCon ot Manufacturing Industry Experience)

Position Summary:


The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services necessary to support government contracting or manufacturing operations. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that all purchasing activities comply with company policies and government regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement, particularly within the government contracting or manufacturing sectors, and a strong understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) requirements. This position has potential for hybrid flexibility after 90 days.


Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Management:
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of purchase agreements to secure favorable pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Issue purchase orders and track orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages and excess stock.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and address any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve disputes, negotiate contract changes, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with FAR, DFARS, and other applicable government regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation for government audits and reporting.
  • Cost Management:
  • Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Work closely with the finance and project management teams to align procurement strategies with budgetary goals.
  • Manage the procurement budget and report on variances to management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure materials and services meet technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product development and production initiatives.
