Mainframe Systems Analyst/ Programmer

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Analyst/Programmer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on expertise in mainframe programming. The ideal candidate will be proficient in platforms such as JCL, Assembler, REXX, FOCUS, and COBOL. This role involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing mainframe applications to support critical business processes while ensuring system stability and performance. This position is fully remote and requires ability to obtain a Public Trust.


Responsibilities:
  • System Development and Maintenance:
  • Analyze, design, code, test, and implement mainframe applications using JCL, Assembler, REXX, FOCUS, COBOL, and other relevant technologies.
  • Modify existing applications to improve efficiency, adapt to new requirements, and enhance functionality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for new and existing systems.
  • System Support:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.
  • Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to optimize processing efficiency.
  • Provide on-call support for critical systems, addressing production issues promptly.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, including system designs, program specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports on system performance, project status, and issue resolutions.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including QA, operations, and business analysts, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to process improvements for development and deployment.
  • Compliance and Best Practices:
  • Ensure all applications adhere to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with mainframe technologies and programming best practices to recommend improvements and updates.
