Job Profile Summary
Under limited supervision the purpose of the job is to perform major mechanical work in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of automotive and associated college-owned equipment. Employees in this job classification are responsible for diagnosing, repair and maintaining a variety of college-owned vehicles, equipment and function in a lead worker capacity for other automotive repair as required. Performs related work as directed.
Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
-
Five or more years as an Automotive Technician.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
-
Valid Florida Driver’s License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days after beginning employed by the College.
Essential Functions:
-
Utilizes equipment in a safe and productive manner to perform grounds maintenance and associated repair work.

Interprets job assignments and completes work with minimal supervision.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules.

Requisitions materials and supplies through Supervisor for projects and coordinates the efficient use of student workers, resources and equipment.

Coordinates ground maintenance equipment repair and maintenance projects at multiple sites; analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists workers in solving problems.

Maintains current knowledge of industry standard and keeps up to date with required certifications.

Makes recommendations to Landscape Supervisors, Direct Supervisor on equipment needs and safety concerns.

Trains and directs subordinates in the use, care and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Oversight of vehicle cleaning schedule.

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to recognize needs of unit and own responsibility.

Knowledge of ASE engine repair, ASE engine performance, and CDL w/air brake.

Knowledge of the standard servicing characteristics of automotive and related equipment.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward College Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
