Lead Brand Design Manager

Lead Brand Design Manager

NYC, SF or Remote

We're looking for a Lead Brand Design Manager to help us accomplish our mission to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. Here's what you need to know about the role, our team and why Flatiron Health is the right next step in your career.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Lead Brand Design Manager who is excited about building the new vision for our HC (healthcare) sub-brand and being a strategic partner in the development of its branded portfolio of products. Our HC products are used by oncologists and admin staff at community oncology practices and hospitals & health systems to care for cancer patients across the country.

In this role, you'll partner closely with the HC marketing team to build the roadmap for this sub-brand, streamlining processes and sourcing creatives to execute on projects with the highest visibility. Reporting to the Director of Brand Design, you and your team will support large-scale integrated campaigns that position Flatiron as a coveted brand in the market. You will craft compelling stories and oversee work across the entire creative spectrum (print, digital, video, music, and physical experiences) to lead the creative process. You will develop a creative vision end-to-end across all work ensuring it's coherent and on-brand, bringing the rest of your cross-functional partners along for the journey. In addition, you'll also:

  • Manage a small team of junior designers by effectively setting expectations, ensuring they understand and meet those expectations, and helping them set short-term career goals
  • Mentor and develop junior talent, ensuring their work and process are following industry best practices, contributing to the larger “learn, teach and grow” design culture we’re building at Flatiron
  • Develop new processes with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., marketing, product management, communications, external vendors) to ensure that our design time is allocated to deliver on our most important initiatives at the highest level of design excellence
  • Help map and clarify the people, processes, and technologies involved in key deliverable types; identifying the bottlenecks that slow us down, and clarifying the brand vision to streamline creative operations inside and outside the house
  • Adapt to resourcing needs, by recruiting, onboarding and managing top contractors or creative vendors to be extensions of our in-house team

Who You Are

You're a design manager doing marketing, communication, visual or brand design with experience managing individual contributors. You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You’re a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact.

  • You have at least 4-5 years of industry experience with 1-2 years as a people manager
  • You have prior design experience in advertising, visual design, graphic design, or UI/UX design
  • You have strong knowledge and experience with brand strategy, establishing and rolling out brand guidelines, and effectively managing creative operations and workflows
  • You have the ability to design at various levels of zoom, from detailed typography notes and color-correction to moodboarding and hands off creative direction.
  • You are a systems thinker, with an appetite to build a brand by working iteratively and across creative mediums
  • You have excellent communication skills and prior experience working with executive stakeholders
  • Nice to have: experience with product naming, workshop facilitation, copywriting skills.

If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in at Flatiron.
