About the Role
As the Lead Material Handler, located at our Austin, TX warehouse (Lake Travis Area), you will have an opportunity to partner with internal team members as well as experience customer relations as flow leader for the material handling team that issues and delivers materials to our field services team, production floor, keeps track of inventory, and ships and receives material to ensure proper flow. Ensures safe and effective movement of material within a warehouse or storage facility. The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as in teams.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Directs the organization’s purchasing and inventory management of raw material receipts, material flow, and distribution of finished goods.
  • Communicates freight transportation information to customers and suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, and quality of transportation services.
  • Delivers continuous improvement through making recommendations on change and how to implement.
  • Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Issues and delivers correct materials to production floor, keeps track of inventory, ships, and receives materials to ensure proper flow.
  • Resolves problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports, exports, and customer issues.
  • Understands processes, knowledge of tools and techniques, and can apply them in multiple work areas, including an ability to train others.
  • Receives and verifies the quality and quantity of shipments of incoming materials.
  • Builds packaging, packs, checks product quality, weighs, organizes and verifies paperwork of shipments, loads and unloads materials.
  • Establishes and implements processes to ensure the timely disposition of obsolete and excess materials.
  • Trains shipping department personnel in roles or responsibilities regarding global logistics strategies.
  • Demonstrates capabilities in material management, continuous improvement, MRP, pull systems, flow, and implementation of lean concepts.
  • Develops strong relationships and provides effective communication, prioritization, and alignment across value streams, sites, business units, and functions.
  • Demonstrates capability for engaging with external business partners to provide seamless linkage of supply chain processes.
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectations.
  • Navigates software platforms used for shipping and receiving.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Shipping materials through primary carriers Fedex, UPS, and secondary carriers Expeditors, DW Morgan and YRC
  • Shipping materials via motor (LTL) and air freight
  • Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) codes and how to apply them
  • Creating Bills of Lading (BOL) and Shipper Letters of Instructions (SLI)
  • Exporting products from U.S. to various countries
  • Knowledge of U.S. Census Bureau's Automated Commercial Environment System (ACE)
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year degree or Technical Certificate or related experience (3-5 years).
Leadership training

Required Qualifications:
High school graduate/GED certificate or equivalent.
