As a member of the Higher Education sales team, a Learning Associate will plan, organize, and implement selling strategies for a defined print and digital product set to achieve established sales targets and goals within assigned open sales territories within a region. Sales activities will be conducted primarily from their home office, with very limited travel required to close sales and/or attend internal meetings. A Learning Associate will build relationships with decision makers, represent and promote assigned Cengage Learning products to customers, and provide post-sales support as needed to drive sell-through, digital activations and usage within their open territory assignments.
What you'll do:
Territory Coverage
  • Provide coverage for open territories through the planning, organizing, and prioritization of sales strategies to achieve established sales targets
  • Maintain a Territory Plan for the assigned open territories using sales tools and resources including the sales force CRM (Salesforce)
  • Communicate with other sales personnel (e.g. Customer Success Managers and Engagement Managers) to achieve open territory and regional sales goals
  • Follow through on daily plans to optimize sales potential within each open territory.
  • Be prepared to demo Cengage products as needed.
  • Provide vacation and leaves coverage as needed for various lengths of time.
Projects
  • Participate or lead various projects with specific deadlines.
  • React to needs of DM, CSM or RCSM using time management skills.
  • Apply strong digital skills assisting reps with quick solutions to issues throughout the year with high concentration during back to school season.
  • Apply strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills, develop usage of SLACK and various technology products.
Collaborate Internally
  • While this is a remote position, plan on attending various in person collaboration meetings and attending daily team meetings via zoom.
  • Actively integrate, and report faculty and content partnership opportunities, into daily selling activities by seeking author contributors for content development for our printed titles, supplements, and digital products
  • Identify and report trends that could generate new content, fresh ideas or business models for Cengage
Use of Technology and Communications
  • Manage communications and reporting
  • Exhibit proficient use of technology communication tools
  • Update and maintain our CRM (Salesforce)
  • Fulfill team support roles as the need arises
  • Communicate & coordinate effectively as required with other sales personnel
Skills You Will Need Here:
Basic (Required):
  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience and a proven, successful track record in a prior sales position
  • Two years of successful sales or customer interaction experience preferred
  • Highly flexible, adaptable to change and possess ability to adjust.
  • High energy and good communication (people want to be around you)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of applied computer technology
  • Comfortable utilizing technology in performing routine job tasks and for product demonstration purposes
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office applications
Preferred:
  • Internal candidates with strong performance and capabilities
  • Direct sales, marketing, or editorial experience
  • Prior publishing sales experience
  • Driven to succeed

Base Pay Range
The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
$31,500.00 - $50,400.00 USD
