Role Summary

The Learning Content Designer is responsible for designing, implementing and measuring solutions to organization-wide learning programs at Alaska Air Group (AAG) on the Learning and Talent Management team. As an individual contributor, this role designs content, develops communication strategies, and makes recommendations to enhance the usage and effectiveness of learning content.

Key Duties

  • Responsible for managing the design and usage of organization-wide learning and development programs by maximizing usability, positioning content to support business unit goals, and optimizing content based on performance and user insights.
  • Author, schedule, and manage communication materials for employees at all levels on large-scale Learning & Talent Management programs and efforts – including intranet updates, email communications, program collateral, presentations, e-learnings, and applicable promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with a variety of content contributors, editors, authors, and vendors to identify key messages for communications and training development. Make timely updates, advocate for and develop guidelines for ongoing input of various stakeholders.
  • Partner with other training and communication experts on working relationships to increase the impact of internal and external cultural competency across learning programs and initiatives.
  • Takes initiative to manage and develop solutions to organization-wide learning programs, with an emphasis on professional and management-level learning content.
  • Makes recommendations to ensure key learning objectives are realized in all developed materials.
  • With limited direction from leadership, works independently to manage projects and coordinate updates across the training course catalog to address the needs of the business and internal stakeholders.
  • Skillfully aligns learning materials with Alaska’s values and leadership principles.
  • Develops learning content with design elements necessary for measuring outcomes.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of experience in adult learning solutions or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations, education, or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Experience in content and presentation design.
  • Experience with image/graphic/video creation and manipulation, and related tools.
  • Thorough understanding of learning modalities and adult learning styles.
  • Ability to maintain and adhere to project and individual schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience in program/project management, business relationship management, or other experience.
  • Knowledge of current training presentation products and emerging technologies.

Salary Range

$65,500 - $95,000 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
