POSITION: Learning Support Assistant- Belle Vernon School

Multiple Part Time Positions Available working with children in the Belle Vernon School District

An Aide in the Belle Vernon School District provides one on one support by providing instructional programs and services to individual students. Services may be provided in various instructional settings within the school district as well as school district sanctioned locations. Services may be provided to more than one student at the discretion of the school district. In your role as Aide, you will be responsible for assisting with the supervision of assigned student according to the instructions/direction of the supervising teacher. The aide will observe student and report changes of behavior, attitude, or physical condition to the supervising teacher. In addition, you will assist assigned student(s) with physical tasks, including personal care services if needed and accompany assigned student(s) on community-based instruction.

• Child Development Associate credentials or Associate Degree in early childhood education preferred, or early childhood training/credit hours; these hours must be experience with a non-relative child, secondary educations, special education experience/credits preferred.
• Ability to receive, understand, and communicate information with effectiveness, and follow instructions.
• Ability to read, understand and implement job descriptions, DHS Regulations, SPHS Child Learning Center announcements, philosophies, policies and procedures, and STARS and Pre-K Counts requirements.
• Successful completion of required employment physicals.
• Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the Pennsylvania State Police and Child Abuse Clearance from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, FBI Fingerprint Clearance and National Sex Offender Registry Clearance.
• Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal health care programs.
• Ability to assist, move and/or transfer children weighing up to 50 pounds, may be required.
• Ability to interact with children by walking, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, and jumping indoors, outdoors, and on field trips.
