The Team You’ll Work With

Carta is seeking a leave partner to oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. This role will partner with the HR team and business leaders to ensure employees needs are supported in accordance with applicable laws, as well ensure fair, respectful treatment of employees consistent with our framework of our core business and objectives.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Some of the problems you’ll help us solve are:

  • Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave, their responsibility for documentation and/or modified work schedules.
  • Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s).
  • Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Partner with legal and international partners on legislative developments to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws (US, UK/DK, Brazil, Canada, Singapore)

About You

  • Experience working in a fast-paced technology company
  • Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
  • 2-3 years of direct leave administration responsibility
  • Knowledge and experience in employee relations preferred
  • Excellent people skills, great communicator (both written and verbally)
  • Great organizational skills, high attention to detail, and an ability to multitask
  • Ability to interface effectively with professionals at all levels of the organization
  • Must maintain confidentiality and use outstanding judgment on a daily basis
  • A passion for understanding the business goals, finding solutions, and improving processes
  • Effective influencing skills to provide resolution to complex and highly critical employee relations issues

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is: $92,000 - $109,000 in New York and San Francisco locations.

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
