Job Description
The Department of History, Political Science and Philosophy seeks applicants for two full-time year-long faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer. Candidates should have at least a master's degree in Political Science or a related field and should have the ability to teach survey courses in both US and Texas government and politics.
Responsibilities will include teaching five 3-credit hour undergraduate courses per semester, most likely a combination of US Government and Texas Government. The successful candidate may be asked to teach sections in both face-to-face and online formats. The successful candidate may be asked to teach a section or two at a dual-enrollment campus in the area.
Job Responsibilities
Teach 10 undergraduate courses per year (5 per semester), typically in US Government and Texas Government;
Participate in Departmental and University student recruitment and retention;
Participate in some committee work, both inside and outside the Department, as needed;
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution or university in Political Science or a closely related discipline, and demonstrable expertise within the field(s).
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience reflecting passion for teaching, particularly students at the undergraduate level.
Evidence of or potential for strong student engagement activities aimed at recruitment and retention.

In addition, the selected candidate will be required to provide an official transcript(s) from each degree-granting institution before an offer can be made. Degrees earned from institutions outside of the United States are required to be evaluated and certified for equivalency to a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) degree, and other higher education degrees.
The anticipated employment start date is August, 2023.
