We are on the hunt for a personable and quick-witted Legal Counsel with a minimum of 5 years PQE to join our dedicated in-house legal team here at Orion Health!
As Legal Counsel at Orion Health, you will be responsible for using your good judgement and quick thinking to provide legal and commercial advice and negotiation support to internal stakeholders on software and services contracts with customers and suppliers.
There is a focus on the APAC region but this is a multinational business, so you will be exposed to managing legal work in overseas jurisdictions. You will support the Group General Counsel and Associate General Counsel, and will also engage with a variety of internal stakeholders to understand the needs of the business and provide general legal guidance.
Your success in this role will be underpinned by the sound relationships you develop with the teams you work with, and external clients. Our team is very focused on being part of the effort to get deals done on time, whilst managing the risks for the best possible outcomes.
As Orion Health Legal Counsel you will:
- Draft, negotiate and advise on client technology, licensing and services agreements, and supplier agreements from minor subcontracts through to priming arrangements.
- Work with our product and marketing teams on software product collateral and documentation.
- Advise on commercial, corporate, privacy, property and other legal matters as they arise.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years PQE in-house or in private legal practice.
- Skills: You possess well-developed research skills with the ability to draft agreements, demonstrate sound knowledge of NZ contract and commercial law and ideally have a working knowledge of privacy law. You also have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with an unwavering ability to present an argument for why/why not, every time.
- Characteristics: You have a good sense of humour, are resilient and optimistic, un-phased by ambiguity and of course enjoy working at pace on a variety of matters. You are also proactive in nature, jumping at the next task without hesitation.
- Education: You will have a law degree, admission to the bar, and either hold an NZ practising certificate or be able to obtain one within a month of commencing in the role.
What’s in it for you?
- Your (Orion) health is very important to us. We have teamed up with Southern Cross to provide you with fully covered health insurance, on us!

- The borders are finally open and we want to take advantage of that! Whether you want to go back home to visit family, visit friends seas afar, or just be a digital nomad in Bali, you have the opportunity to take your role and work for up to 30 days in another country through our TravelFlex initiative (eligibility applies).
