DescriptionLeidos is looking for a motivated Chemist Intern to join our Vista, CA team! You will work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation.Primary Responsibilities• You will work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation• Assist in the execution of experiments involving development of aerosol generation protocols for the interrogation of chemical aerosol clouds• Perform daily data collections and assist with instrument modifications• Develop test methods and procedures for use in material characterization• Analyze and interpret data independently based on critical thinking and the use of statistic tools.• Document work and be able to communicate findings and reasoning with other team membersBasic Qualifications• Currently a graduate or advanced undergraduate student in an accredited degree program pursuing a degree in Chemistry, or closely related disciplines• Strong data analysis capabilities (Excel, Matlab, Python)• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment• Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving• Good presentation, writing and communication skills• Ability to work at least 8-16 hours per week as a member of a cross-functional team• Strong organizational and time management skillsPreferred Qualifications• Familiarity analytical techniques and instrumentation such as GC/MS, HPLC, FTIR, SEM• Experience and willingness to operate in an instrument laboratory development environment containing instrumentation such as lasers and oscilloscopes• Experience and willingness to handle chemicals and complete chemical sample preparationOriginal Posting Date:2024-08-27While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
