To find out more visitwww.lenovo.com, and read about the latest news via ourStoryHub.• The role of Director, Global Privacy Counsel is to lead Lenovo’s worldwide privacy program, and to provide advice and counsel to Lenovo’s management and staff on privacy-related issues involving Lenovo’s consumers and customers, its products and software. This role manages the global Privacy Team and will shape Lenovo’s global privacy practices and strategy across its PC, Mobile, Server and Services business units and will include three primary areas of responsibility:• General Counseling: Provide advice and counsel to Lenovo businesses on privacy, security and related data protection issues, allowing Lenovo to both innovate and meet the challenges of global data protection policies and laws.Provide advice and counsel to Lenovo businesses on the privacy and security implications of Lenovo product designs/features/functions, software/applications, interactive experiences and other product and non-product specific issues.Provide advice and counsel to Lenovo businesses on the privacy and security implications of information collection/handling/use/retention activities, supplier and partner relationships and other areas.• Contract Support:Review and draft contract provisions, templates and related solutions in order to achieve strong levels of privacy and security.Support Lenovo’s commercial contracts, sales and procurement organizations by negotiating data protection provisions in supplier, partner and sales agreements.• Compliance:Develop, apply and enforce Lenovo privacy and related data protection policies, standards, guidelines and best practices.Lead Lenovo’s activities to meet the requirements of an FTC consent order, and other legal and regulatory obligations.Draft Lenovo privacy and related data protection policies.Develop and conduct training and awareness programs related to privacy and data protection issues.Manage privacy and related data protection disputes and incidents and, as needed, government investigations/inquiries.Basic Requirements• JD from a top-tier law school along with excellent academic credentials.• A thorough understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including in-depth knowledge of U.S. and global laws that apply to technology products, software and related areas.• 15+ years’ experience involving the creation and implementation of privacy and/or related international and domestic data protection policies and compliance efforts.• 10+ years’ experience in managing privacy and related data protection compliance issues for large consumer focused multinational companies.• Familiarity with the technical workings of hardware, software and applications, artificial intelligence, Internet/Intranet, databases, related information technology applications/techniques and the privacy, information security and related data protection considerations they implicate.• Familiarity with regulatory consent orders/settlements compliance and remediation efforts.Prefered Requirements:• The ability to continuously improve a rigorous privacy compliance program that addresses the ongoing need to responsibly use and to protect consumer, customer and employee data.• The ability to communicate complex legal, technical and business concepts and requirements to non-legal professionals.• The ability to effectively communicate and interact with clients at all levels of the organization, including senior management.• The ability to lead and/or participate effectively as member of a team.• The ability to establish proactive counseling relationships with clients all over the world, as well as relationships with other members of U.S. and International Legal team.• The ability to exercise sound legal judgment, balancing business needs and legal requirements in order to develop and implement business-minded solutions.• The ability to work independently and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.• Strong project management skills and a professional, proactive, enthusiastic and flexible demeanor.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any federal, state, or local protected class.
