This position will report to the Senior Manager, Export Compliance and Licensing. This role will include product and technology classifications for the corporate databases related to intangible and physical items, including 3rd party items that Lenovo exports.Responsibilities:Responsibilities also include risk assessment and training to ensure coverage of US export laws and those of the countries where Lenovo operates. This position will additionally support new business product development models involving export controls and include merger and acquisition due diligence and integration. Responsibilities will be in collaboration with the global Export Compliance, and cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Program Management and Product Management. Collaborate with departments, to set strategies and develop processes to classify products in an expediate manner by implementing cross-functional process.Additional duties include:1. Review and interpret US Export Administration Regulations to assign appropriate export classifications for Lenovo's products, chipsets, software solutions and technology throughout the product life cycle.2. Interface with Engineering and Program Managers to evaluate technical characteristics of Lenovo' products and, based on engineering concepts, determine the US export classification and the license requirements in US and other jurisdictions.3. Provide technical support to identify export license requirements for employees, suppliers, partners, customers, and end users.4. Provide assistance in preparing white papers, guidelines, and position papers as it relates to regulatory compliance of Lenovo's products.5. Provide assistance in preparing commodity classifications requests and US export licenses.The successful candidate for this position will be a proactive and highly productive individual with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and operate at the program and project level. The candidate for this position must have strong ability to collaborate with multiple team members. The candidate will have expertise with the regulatory technique and Engineering capabilities to manage export classifications and more.Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Physics, and/or business equivalent experience.• 8+ years experience with US export controls and additional experience with Wassenaar and other government's export controls.• Engineering experience required to assess product characteristics and functionality to help determine the appropriate export classifications• Working knowledge of US export control regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Wassenaar Arrangement Regulations, especially Categories 3, 4, 5 (Part I and II), 6, 7 and 9 of the CCL and ITAR knowledge.• Familiarity with advanced level of classification concepts (ECCNs, CCATS, EAR, Licensing Jurisdiction Determination, Export Licenses, Encryption and Wassenaar, etc.).• Broad knowledge of export laws and regulations and best practices of export controls and sanctions of the US, Wassenaar and other countries laws, regulations, and best practices.• Knowledge of regulations include the US Department of Commerce's Export Administration Regulations, US Department of State's International Traffic in Arms Regulations, sanctions regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and multilateral regimes and regulations of the countries where Lenovo operates.• Proven experience in export classificationsPreferred Qualifications:• Master's degree or equivalent experience• Working knowledge / experience in telecommunications, information security, cryptography, electronics, integrated circuits, and computer export controls.• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to manage data from multiple sources and interpret requirements and regulations.• Ability to develop trusting relationships across Lenovo, including within corporate functions, business teams and external sources including various government officials.• Communicate efficiently and effectively, conveying information clearly, accurately verbally and in written materials, in small or large groups.• Collaborate with multiple teams such as Export Compliance and Government Affairs leaders, team members and business groups to develop and implement creative solutions.The base salary range budgeted for this position is $140,000 - $175,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonuses and/or commissions.
