LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting a infrastructure/construction and maintenance company in Morristown, NJ. We are seeking a Junior Accountant to assist in managing financial and accounting operations with a focus on lease accounting. This role involves supporting the accounting team in maintaining accurate records of lease agreements, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with ASC 842. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in lease accounting principles, with the ability to work both remotely and on-site in a hybrid work environment.Key Responsibilities:• Lease Accounting:• Maintain accurate records of lease agreements, including rent schedules, payment terms, and lease modifications.• Prepare and record journal entries related to lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842.• Ensure proper classification of leases as operating or finance leases.• Reconcile lease liabilities and right-of-use assets on a monthly basis.• Monitor and track lease renewals, terminations, and amendments.• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of lease accounting software (e.g., LeaseQuery, Visual Lease).• General Accounting:• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.• Support the month-end close process, including accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable related to lease agreements and other accounting functions.• Collaborate with senior accounting staff to ensure accuracy of financial data and compliance with company policies.• Financial Reporting:• Prepare schedules and reports related to lease agreements for management and audit purposes.• Assist in the preparation of lease-related disclosures for financial statements.• Audit & Compliance:• Support internal and external audits by providing lease-related documentation.• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and lease accounting standards.• Team Collaboration:• Work closely with the real estate, legal, and operations teams to gather necessary lease documentation.• Communicate with landlords, tenants, and property managers regarding lease-related financial matters.Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• 1-2 years of accounting experience, with a focus on lease accounting preferred.• Knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting standards.• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and lease accounting software (e.g., LeaseQuery, Visual Lease).• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment.• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Work Environment:• Hybrid schedule: 2-3 days in the Morristown, NJ office, with the option to work remotely on other days.If you are interested in this opportunity please send your resume to Marissa.McMahon@LHH.comLet's Connect!
