Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking applicants for the position of Library Assistant.
Reporting to the Head Librarian for Access Services & Archivist, the Library Assistant provides assistance for users at the Library Services desk and supports the overall daily activities of the Access Services Team.
This position is one of two Library Assistants. This position will be working and coordinating with the other Library Assistant to fulfill these functions. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to learn new skills and apply such knowledge, the ability to work well in a group as well as independently, and a desire to learn more about libraries. The closing Library Assistant would be responsible for closing the Library Sunday through Thursday, typically 4pm-midnight.
Duties include:
Assisting in the oversight of circulation operations, general technology support (in collaboration with the Department of Technology Services), and oversight of student employees (in collaboration with the other Access Services Librarian).
The Library Assistant is responsible for closing the library, overseeing building issues during the evening hours, and consulting with library administration as needed.
The position is part of the Access Services team and will participate in department projects and activities, especially in the areas of interlibrary loan, serials, book displays, stacks maintenance, and social.
