Licensing Manager

Position: Licensing Manager

In This Role, You Will…
Be responsible for all company-level consumer finance licensing functions, including but not limited to new license applications, annual renewals and reports, as well as overseeing applicable licensing of Mariner Finance employees. As the Licensing Manager, you will ensure company compliance, maintain appropriate licensing records, consistently maintain knowledge of current licensing regulations and requirements on a federal and state level, provides strategic input, and resolve escalated issues in coordination with other departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the timely, accurate submission of filings within NMLS and other state-specific licensing systems.
  • Maintains records, compiles information, and tracks all licensing and bond requirements to ensure timely and efficient license acquisition and renewal.
  • Continues to stay up to date on general licensing knowledge and familiarity with various state and federal laws applicable to licensing.
  • Coordinates with various team members across company departments to obtain necessary information for renewals, annual reports, and new license applications.
  • Maintains a log of state lending licenses, policies, issues, dates, etc.
  • Assists with timely compliance with annual reporting requirements to maintain the company’s lending licenses.
  • Manages the preparation and maintenance of all company licensing files.
  • Prepares, updates, and maintains spreadsheets, databases, reports, presentations, and non-routine correspondence.
  • May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five or more (5+) years of licensing or corporate legal assistance in a law firm or in-house setting.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and LOS systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high integrity.
  • Strategic and investigative research.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret information, and troubleshoot to solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively, manage complex projects, and multitask successfully in fast-paced and complex business environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Participant in or graduate of an accredited master’s in legal studies or paralegal program.
  • Previous experience with NMLS and other state regulatory licensing systems.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
