Healthy Start Fatherhood Coordinator-Community Education Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Fatherhood/Community Education Coordinator, under the direction of the Healthy Start Program Director will facilitate fatherhood and community education engagement trainings and increase participation of Fathers/Father figures and women of reproductive age for participation in the Healthy Stan Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Plans, coordinates and implements appropriate events and/or activities to increase the participation of fathers/father figures, women of reproductive age in the Healthy Start Program. The following functions represent the majority of duties performed by the position, but are not all-inclusive or prevent other duty assignments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
I. Plan and coordinate father/father figure/child involvement activities, and for women of reproductive age.
  • Plan and facilitate fatherhood/women of reproductive age peer support groups and promote fatherhood involvement, parenting, in the community through creation of a "Father-Friendly" environment.
  • Order supplies, equipment, curriculum, etc. in compliance with program and agency procurement protocols; maintain inventory and restock as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit invoices/claims for payment in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain files, records and documentation of activities and events as applicable and enter data into CAPTAIN and/or other applicable client-tracking software. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director, Care Coordinator Manager, Care Coordinators, Community Consortium Coordinator/Evaluator, other staff, community partners, coalitions and other stakeholders to plan and implement strategies toward meeting the goals of the Healthy Start Program. 
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations to management, board, participants and the community on project specific progress and outcomes.
    SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: 
    The Fatherhood/Community Education Coordinator works under the supervision of the Healthy Start Program Director and exercise no supervision over any employees.
    OUALIFICATIONS: 

    Bachelor's Degree in child development or social science preferred but extensive work experience in a related field will be considered in lieu of a degree.

    • Two (2) years of experience in case management; especially related to family or social services work.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMAND/ENVIORNMENTAL FACTORS:
    • Constantly must be able to sit/stand in a stationary position 50% of the time.
    • Frequently must be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
    • Frequently must operate a computer and other office productive machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
    • Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Frequently must communicate with staff and others who have inquiries about the program. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • Occasionally must move/carry items weighing up to 30 pounds or more.
    • Frequently must visually detect highway signs and interact with traffic while operating a vehicle.
