We are looking for a talented HR Director to join our team specializing in Human Resources for our Engine Business Segment in Jamestown, NY. This is a hybrid role. This role requires less than 10% travel.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Partners with human resources leadership and business and functional leaders to develop and implement business unit human resources initiatives and policies.
  • Establishes strategies in alignment with Corporate Human Resources strategies and coordinates the business or functional resources to attain the business goals.
  • Directs human resources processes for the organization and is responsible for the effectiveness of the broad range of Human Resources processes.
  • Partners with business leadership to align human resources strategies, policies, and processes with the business’s current and future goals; establishes plans to meet business objectives.
  • Establishes strategies with the business units on the selection and retention of the diverse talent required to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Partners with business unit leaders to link human resources to business strategies and results.
  • Provides employee development expertise and oversees systems to drive continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Implements work systems and an environment that allows employees to achieve high performance.
  • Ensures compliance with key government legislated requirements and adherence to human resources policies and procedures in complex regions or across multiple businesses or functions.
  • Evaluates key performance indicators to drive functional and business performance improvements related to human resource investments; leads initiatives focused on achieving performance excellence in human resources.
  • Communicates and consults on all areas of human resources programs, including compensation, benefits, staffing, organizational development, employee relations, and performance management in alignment with common global human resources strategies and processes.
  • Coaches and mentors one or two levels of direct reports; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Candidate Assessment and Selection - Defines qualification requirements and selection criteria for open positions using Cummins tools; employs objective selection processes that meet compliance requirements; assesses, evaluates, and selects candidates against pre-determined job specifics and "Select for Cummins" competencies, and communicates openly with candidate and stakeholders to ensure timely hiring outcomes.
  • Change Management - Applies the Cummins structured process and tool set for engaging individuals and organizations through change to achieve and sustain business results and outcomes.
  • Organizational Development and Effectiveness Consultation - Assesses organizational performance strengths and gaps by conducting comprehensive assessments, interpreting data, diagnosing root cause, and engaging leaders to improve employee engagement and organizational effectiveness; recommends intervention(s) aligned with Cummins HR approach to influence course corrections and evaluates the results.
  • Organization Design - Evaluates and aligns the organizational structure, capabilities, processes, tools, metrics, and rewards using Cummins organization design framework and tools to meet business strategy and objectives.
  • Team Effectiveness Facilitation - Guides team to increased effectiveness through observation, facilitation and application of structured tools resulting in increased capability to deliver desired business outcomes.
  • Employee Relations - Builds constructive relationships with employees and other stakeholders; reinforces consistent application of Cummins standards applies knowledge of employment and labor law; effectively manages conflict; builds and maintains a collaborative, productive work environment through information sharing and consultation.
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration - Administers policies following Cummins plan design to ensure accurate and consistent application of Cummins policies in order to make and communicate appropriate compensation and benefits decisions; complies with local legislative and tax requirements to ensure Cummins policies meet governance and legislative requirements.
  • Human Resources Consulting - Collaborates with partners to observe the environment and apply sound judgement informed by knowledge, skills, and experiences to identify and optimize opportunities to provide holistic solutions, while balancing the needs of stakeholders, primarily employees, with those of the organization.
  • Data Analytics - Discovers, interprets, and communicates qualitative and quantitative data; determines conclusions relying on knowledge of business or functional frameworks; simultaneously applies statistics, data validity, data visualization, and problem-solving approaches to effectively extract meaningful patterns and business insights; presents conclusions and outcomes that enable data driven business decisions.
  • Human Resources Business Process Execution - Manages the execution of Human Resources business processes, seeking efficiency, accuracy, positive business performance outcomes and operational agility; integrates activities across processes as needed; assures compliance with process and legal requirements; effectively balances process requirements and business leader needs.
  • Business insight - Applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals.
  • Decision quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
  • Global perspective - Taking a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness - Using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses.

Education

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required.

Experience

  • Significant work experience required, including leadership and budgetary experience.
  • As a member of the Jamestown plant leadership team, supports initiatives and goal tree objectives in a variety of areas as needed including safety, communication, employee engagement and community involvement.
  • Sponsors, develops, and delivers training and coaching on a variety of topics including employee relations, right environment, leadership, and talent management.
  • Leverages data, systems, and dashboards to provide feedback and facilitate plant operating team decisions.
  • Leads people discussions focused on employee development, succession, and headcount planning by sharing monthly updates on activities such as recruitment, attrition, retention, and right environment.
  • Manages plant HR budget and provides input to annual operating plan.
  • Represents HR team for required quality systems audits.
  • Ensures HR policies are accurately maintained as part of the site Quality Management System.
  • Accountable for operation of onsite medical clinic and rehab center and related programs including pre-employment screening, return-to-work processes, case management, reasonable accommodations, light duty and wellness programs.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
