As the Director of Product Marketing, you will be responsible for driving the product marketing strategy, positioning, and messaging across Liquid Web’s product portfolio. You will work cross-functionally with the product, sales, and customer success teams to define target markets, craft product narratives, and develop go-to-market plans that fuel our business growth. Your focus will be to translate complex product features into compelling value propositions that resonate with customers, ensuring our products stand out in the marketplace. They will also coordinate the creation of marketing content and differentiated product positioning across landing pages, blogs, whitepapers, emails, video, social media, etc.
This role will work closely with product and go-to-market teams to create differentiated and opinionated product value propositions and then collaborate to create compelling messages for customers and prospects and functions as the CORE VOICE for our product lines in the market. The leader will be directly responsible for driving the growth of product MRR and customer count across New and Existing installed base.
This is a permanent, full-time, remote position with a pay range of $150K to $200K.
Responsibilities:
Product Positioning and Messaging: Develop compelling and differentiated product positioning and messaging that clearly communicates the value proposition to target audiences, and ensure this messaging is consistently applied across all marketing channels
Customer Research and Competitive Insights: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to deeply understand customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape, and use these insights to inform product development and marketing strategies
Customer Segmentation and Persona Development: Utilize advanced segmentation tools and typing frameworks to identify and categorize customer personas based on behavior, needs, and buying patterns. Leverage these insights to tailor GTM strategies to drive engagement and maximize conversion rates
Sales Enablement: Partner with the sales team to create effective sales tools, presentations, case studies, and training materials to enable the sales team to effectively communicate product benefits and close deals
Content and Collateral Creation: Collaborate with content, demand generation, and digital marketing teams to create high-impact marketing materials, including product videos, landing pages, whitepapers, blogs, email campaigns, and webinars
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management to provide customer feedback and market insights to influence the product roadmap, and collaborate with sales and marketing to ensure alignment on go-to-market strategies
Metrics and Reporting: Track and report on product performance metrics (e.g., product MRR, customer count, market share, customer feedback) to assess effectiveness and refine strategies.
Product Evangelism: Coordinate internal communications and project management across teams
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director role, preferably in the tech or SaaS industry
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA is a plus)
Proven experience in developing and executing go-to-market strategies for technology products, including product positioning, messaging, and competitive analysis
Strong understanding of cloud, SaaS, or hosting industry markets and customer needs.
Strong understanding of hosting industry technologies and services that relate directly to WordPress, hosted sites, eCommerce stores, and adjacent application areas of focus (E-commerce, CRM, CMS) are critical
Specific experience with application specific technologies (WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento, CMS, eCommerce) is critical. Related services & technologies (Containers, Security, Performance, CDN, Domains, Control Panels, Email) and hosting products (VPS, Bare Metal Servers, Cloud Servers, Private Clouds) is highly preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating complex technical concepts into compelling marketing messages
Experience in conducting market research and using data to inform strategic decision-making
Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in marketing automation platforms, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), and product management software
Proven success in collaborating and influencing business development, sales, customer success, product, and management teams
Detail- and results-oriented self-starter with disciplined workflow practices
Demonstrates initiative and a positive, proactive mindset
Established portfolio of content, marketing collateral, campaigns, videos, e-books, web pages, and other materials to showcase content development strengths
