Position Overview:
SEKO Logistics is looking for a highly motivated service-minded freight point of contact to act as a liaison between our customers and freight carriers. You will build relationships with new and existing customers and carriers, provide excellent customer service by expediting the sharing of information and documentation between customers and carriers, and communicate with dispatchers and drivers to track the status of loads. You will negotiate single rate agreements with carriers in a manner that optimizes profits.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
§ Prepare documentation, dock receipts, bills of lading, pickup and delivery alerts.
§ Domestic freight forwarding, including alerting, routing, tracking, and tracing shipments and updating transportation software system
§ Aggressive approach with carriers/partners to obtain special rates or spot quotes
§ Communicate & correspond with other company branches and agents for client satisfaction and ensure excellent service execution
§ Maintain current knowledge of freight carrier services and be effective in attracting new customers and ensuring customer retention.
§ The ability to recognize possible and existing service failures and issues and effectively communicate these situations to management or customer service as needed, offer solutions, and ensure customers are responded to in a timely manner
§ Maintain familiarity with conditions that need special and accessorial charges and ensure that all costs and charges are complete and accurate
§ Develop new and maintain existing carrier relationships; qualify and set up new carriers ensuring that the carrier is fully compliant and are legally permitted to transport freight
§ Work with other staff members to make decisions based on best course of action and circumstances on a shipment-by-shipment basis while maintaining services standards, profitability and fairness to customers and vendors
§ Providing customers and vendors with actual pertinent shipment details, i.e. location of the drivers, expected ETAs, and relaying information in a clear, concise and accurate manner at all times
§ Keeping accurate records of relevant activities.
§ Maintaining current knowledge of market trends in the transportation marketplace.
§ As a SEKO Logistics Representative, you will be expected to create a pleasant atmosphere for employees, customers, carriers, and other vendors to ensure that SEKO Logistics is an easy and pleasurable company to do business with
§ Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures. Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations.
§ Other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
§ Established network of reputable and safe carriers.
§ Excellent mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities.
§ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
§ Excellent organizational and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
§ Proficient negotiating skills and a demonstrated ability to meet sales targets.
§ Customer-oriented and can multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
§ Must be able to build carrier relationships; previous relationships desirable
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum
§ High School Diploma or equivalent
§ 1-2 years of logistics experience preferred
§ Ability to communicate professionally, effectively, and efficiently via phone, fax and email
Preferred
§ Bachelor’s Degree preferred
§ 1-3 years of Leadership experience
