Load Verification Specialist

Scope of Responsibility:

The Load Verification Specialist (LVS) will oversee the quality of all products prior to sending to customers to ensure we are meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Under the direction of the Manager or Shift Supervisor, the Load Verification Specialist (LVS) provides training, guidance, and direction to employees in an efficient, clean, safe and cost-effective manner in order to achieve the goals and key performance metrics in line with the organization’s objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure all products meet Sabre quality standards, minimize downtime, and promote efficiency and uptime
  • Ensure all loads are loaded to meet customer requirements
  • Perform final inspection to ensure all products are free of uncoated areas, acid spots, lumps, projections, globules, edge tears, spikes or heavy deposits of zinc which will interfere with intended use of the product
  • Accurately verifies the weathering steel product as well as other damage by handling and missing parts
  • Measure the thickness of final product and document according to the quality program guidelines
  • Conduct all inspections in accordance of ASTM A123 and with regard to specific customer requirements that may go above and beyond the standard
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
  • Actively seek and support continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs and effectiveness of work
  • Calibrate the mil gauge using calibration blocks and log results
  • Record number of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets
  • Attach identifying tags to product or mark them with identifying information. Flag completed material that has been inspected
  • Additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills is required, including reading, writing and speaking English fluently
  • Prior Galvanizing and Manufacturing experience required
  • Knowledge of ASTM Standards required
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task is required
  • Must have knowledge and demonstrate compliance of all safety guidelines
  • Ability to plan, organize, pay attention to details and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work well with people in a number of positions
  • Ability to identify, define and resolve problems
  • Knowledge of general safety guidelines and Sabre’s quality expectations and application in the work place
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent highly preferred
  • Must be able to read prints
  • Experience using mil gauge, tape measure, hand file and wire brush required

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures for long shifts, including weekends. The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme cold and heat. Temperatures can range below 32 degrees to above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour with other environmental conditions, such as humidity and wind.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.
  • Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
  • Stand for particularly sustained periods of time
