The Loan Closer works in the Single Family Programs division. The Loan Closer is responsible for the preparation of closing instructions and performing DC Housing Finance `Agency’s required closing procedures for residential 1st and 2nd trust mortgages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Monitor loan pipeline to ensure timely loan closing for all Single Family Programs
  • Performs pre-closing and post-closing functions; including verifying, balancing, and approving closing disclosures
  • Manage closing checklists to ensure closing counsel has received all required documents to review and process loan
  • Review final Closing Disclosure (CD) provided by lender and title company to ensure compliance
  • Upon final approval of loan, prepare and securely transmit closing documents to lender
  • Submit loan funding requests to Agency’s Office of Financial Management and confirm funds have been sent for settlement
  • Maintain borrower closing files, including monthly Continuing Eligibility Certifications
  • Monitor and ensure rate lock and closing purchase deadlines are successfully met
  • Coordinate closing dates with lenders and title companies
  • Maintain closing calendar and reschedule settlements as needed
  • Communicate with lenders regarding loan status, outstanding items, and address any concerns or questions
  • Interfaces with internal and external business partners including; underwriters, loan officers, and loan processors
  • Coordinate the completion and submission of required forms to overnight agencies and/or third parties
  • Provide customer service on all loan packages by responding to email, phone call and voicemail inquiries
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of mortgage related experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of customer service experience
  • General understanding of mortgage concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to pay strong attention to details
  • Possess excellent organizational skills
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and 360
