Lochmueller Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Software Manager to provide leadership and guidance to our Civil Engineering software power users, including CAD managers, GIS admins, and independent contractors or outsourced partners. This position will manage software budgets and renewals, licensing, upgrade/patch management processes and procedures, evaluate applications, and create training materials to support staff. Additionally, they will work with project managers, engineers, and IT teams to develop best practices, establish efficient data workflows, and facilitate continuous improvement and innovation. In this position, the candidate will: - Provide leadership and guidance to our Civil Engineering software power users, including CAD managers, GIS admins, and the occasional independent contractors or outsourced partners, supervising their roles and responsibilities and ensuring expected tasks are being performed.
- Develop best practices and standards for software usage within the firm to maximize efficiency and data integrity.
- Lead software coordination meetings to discuss software updates, issues, and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and manage software renewals, budgets and expenditures.
- Ensure our business practice software systems are kept current, secure, and functioning and performing optimally.
- Evaluate and select business software applications that best fit the firm’s business needs and objectives and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the firm’s projects.
- Establish practices that that encourage continuous improvement, innovation, and efficiency.
- Create training materials, providing training, and supporting staff in the use of business practice software applications to ensure high levels of competency, adoption, and proficiency.
- Work with project managers, engineers, and IT teams to develop and facilitate efficient data workflows in the project lifecycle.
Qualifications for this role:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Experience with at least 1 of the following Civil Engineering applications: Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer, or ArcGIS. 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities to supervise, guide, and support Civil Engineering software power users including remote or outsourced teams.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong project management skills to lead cross-team software coordination meetings and work collaboratively to develop and track plans, tasks, and timelines to maximize software efficiencies to align with business goals.
- Experience with software implementation and management.
- Competency in managing software licensing compliance.
- Proficiency in managing and/or patching and upgrading a diverse set of software applications.
- Familiarity with creating and conducting training programs.
