Locksmith

Summary of Position: The Locksmith will be responsible for all doors, door devices, locks, security devices, access systems, key control, and related records for the Marion Campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. He/she will report to the Physical Security Administrator. This position requires an experienced tradesman, a skilled technician, a conscientious organizer, and a servant leader of personal integrity and responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for the lock and doors shop
• Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and data reporting for the shop
• Communicate with the warehouse staff to order needed supplies and materials
• Accomplish other tasks as necessary to accomplish the mission and objectives of Facilities Services
• Provide support for electronic access, locksmith, and door maintenance functions
• Provide support for Schlage IC core lock system with approximately 5,000 doors on the Marion Campus
• Provide up to date data entry in the electronic access system and the key control database
• Provide maintenance and repair of keys, locks, latches, door hardware, ADA door openers, etc.
• Support training and education of campus personnel on the use of automatic door openers, keys, and electronic access

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

• Some college preferred
• Certification Required: Member of professional bonding organization
• Certification Preferred: Certification of a Locksmith program

Experience

• General understanding of door hardware, security and access control systems
• Experience with electronic access and computerized record-keeping
• Three to five (3-5) years experience in locksmith or related industry
• Software competencies with the following are preferred: Keystone 600, Access It, Linel access-control panels
