Locum Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Geoscience
Location: New York, Berlin or Beijing (Hybrid Working); internal applicants from other journals hub locations may also apply.

Nature Geoscience (www.nature.com/ngeo) is seeking a Locum Associate or Senior Editor to join our editorial team (6-month contract).
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nature Geoscience team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, overseeing the peer-review process, commissioning and editing Reviews, opinion pieces, and News & Views, and writing for the journal. They will liaise extensively with the scientific community (both online and in person) and travel to international conferences.
To be considered for this position, you will have:
A PhD (or equivalent) in an area of the geosciences, preferably with research experience within an area of solid earth science including geophysics, tectonics, seismology, geodynamics, and geology. However, strong candidates from other areas of the geosciences will also be considered. Postdoctoral experience will be an advantage. Editorial experience is not required, but applicants with previous editorial experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for Senior Editor.
Breadth of interest in scientific research, both within and beyond your speciality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a keen interest in the communication of science.
Eagerness to travel and interact with scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely fashion.
This fixed-term position is offered on a full-time basis and will be located in our New York, Berlin or Beijing office (Hybrid Working). Internal applicants from other journals hub locations may also apply.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $74,000 / Senior Editor: $91,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and skill level. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
