The Biochemistry and Biotechnology Group (B-GEN) within the Bioscience Division is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic post baccalaureate student who possess a strong interest in software development. We highly encourage candidates with significant expertise in Python, JavaScript, React, front- or back-end development. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Capable of developing maintainable code, understanding software requirements and working on minor bug fixes. Assisting other Software Developers with all aspects of software design and coding.
- Skilled in comprehending and effectively presenting work in a clear and concise manner.
- Willingness to assist with short-term projects under tight deadlines and commit to working a minimum of 40 hours per week on a consistent schedule.
Education : A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related technical field obtained at the time of hire or within the past 3 years, but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ideally the candidate has interest and/or experience in bioinformatics or genomics.
- Ideally the candidate has experience in software engineering skills such as testing, version control, CI/CD and automation.
Work Location:
This position can be fully on-site or hybrid with regular on-site time in Los Alamos, NM. The hybrid work requires the person to live within 2 hours of commute to Los Alamos.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
